The man responsible for some of the most memorable strip club and booty shaking songs ever produced wants to become the mayor of Miami. Luther “Uncle Luke” Camp recently announced that he will consider running for mayor if the city’s current mayor, Carlos Alvarez, is recalled.
On his blog, Campbell wrote, “If Carlos Alvarez gets recalled, I will seriously think about running for Miami-Dade County mayor. And should I win, I would make every day I am in office a reality show. Every day, Miami-Dade residents will have transparency in the mayor’s office.”
Campbell also wrote about bringing Miami’s communities together and putting a halt to the foreclosures in the city.
“Our community has been divided for too long,” Campbell wrote. “If there is one person who can unite voters from every nationality in Miami-Dade, it is Uncle Luke. I can relate to young and old people from Haiti, Cuba, Nicaragua, and even Israel. We need to start thinking about the future of Miami-Dade. We’ve need to change the status quo. Nothing is getting done. We still lead the nation in foreclosures and property taxes continue to go up. Communities are being torn down and not getting rebuilt. All we are doing is building stadiums.”
Although Campbell earned a living by selling sex in hip-hop, he could galvanize young voters if he proves that he has the political wherewithal to lead one of the largest cities in America. –a.r.
