President Obama and the first family led a brigade of celebrities and thousands of volunteers in a day of charitable and philanthropic endeavors during the National Day of Service during the 2013 Inauguration weekend activities of balls, parties and other related events.
While Obama and his wife, first lady Michelle Obama, were taking part in projects at Burrville Elementary School in Washington D.C., Angela Bassett, Eva Longoria and a host of other celebs were down on the National Mall, while community organizations from around the country assembled within a tent to encourage the public to get involved during this weekend inspired by the late Dr. Martin Luther King, who built his career, his legend and his life in service to others.
