As we reported yesterday, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is under close scrutiny following an alleged “suspicious incident” involving himself, an anonymous young woman and two other NFL players.
The 26-year-old star athlete is under investigation along with his teammate Quinton Patton and former San Francisco 49er and current Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, after a Miami woman claims that she woke up in a hospital bed after a night of smoking weed and drinking with the three athletes.
While no charges have been filed, TMZ reports that the investigation could possibly escalate to a sexual assault charge.
“A rape kit was administered on the woman at the heart of the Colin Kaepernick investigation, a Miami Police Department official says.
“Cops were summoned to the hospital where the woman wound up after allegedly hanging out with Colin and two other NFL players at an apartment at the Viceroy Hotel in Miami on April 1.
“Cops spoke with the woman at the hospital and a rape kit was administered.”
While everyone awaits the results of the rape kit, Kaepernick used Twitter to shut down the rumors and thank fans who have given him the benefit of the doubt.
(1/3) The charges made in the TMZ story and other stories I’ve seen are completely wrong. They make things up about me that never happened.

(2/3) I take great pride in who I am and what I do, but I guess sometimes you have to deal with someone who makes things up.

(3/3) I want to thank all of the people who have shared their encouraging sentiments. I assure you that your faith is not misplaced.
