Holler If Ya Hear Me, the Broadway musical inspired by the life and lyrics of the late Tupac Shakur, has been forced to close on June 20th due to poor ticket sales. The non-biographical rap musical set in an inner-city neighborhood in the Midwest just opened a month ago, but it was met with low attendance and mixed reviews. Attendance was low, even during previews in early June.

Singer and poet Saul Williams is earning early rave reviews for his starring turn in the new Broadway play “Holler If Ya Hear Me,” a musical based on the music and lyrics of the late rapper Tupac Shakur. On what would have been the iconic hip-hop star’s 43rd birthday, Williams shared a playlist of his favorite Tupac exclusively songs on Rdio.
A new musical featuring the songs of the late Tupac Shakur is preparing to make it’s debut on Broadway. According to Entertainment Weekly, Holler If Ya Hear Me is expected to open on June 19th, with a preview at the Palace on May 6th.
