The BET Music Matters Showcase has become one of New York City’s premiere music events for up-and-coming artists. Future superstars like Miguel, J. Cole, Melanie Fiona and Elle Varner have all graced that stage as ambitious unknowns at some point
Now that the July 4th holiday weekend is past us, there are a lot of awesome shows taking place throughout the city–many of them relatively low-key affairs if you’re looking to get into something a little more laid-back following last week’s festivities.
A series of remarkable up-and-coming talents took the stage for BET’s Music Matters “Best of 2012” Showcase and proved that live urban music is not only still thriving, but there’s an entire generation of artists preparing to bring it to the masses.
