Damon Dash vs. the IRS

Damon Dash, former Roc-A-Fella Records CEO,   currently owes the IRS almost $3 million in back taxes.

According to The Detroit News, The IRS filed a $2,984,364 tax lien against the former Rocawear executive on June 30 with the New York City Register’s Office.

Dash’s current tax lien is just the latest in a series of major debt problems for the 40-year-old former hip-hop mogul.

In August 2008, The New York Post reported that Dash and his then-wife, fashion designer Rachel Roy, were facing foreclosure on two of their New York homes after Eastern Savings Bank filed a lawsuit against them claiming the pair hadn’t paid their mortgage since January of that year. At the time, Dash also owed the IRS $2 million in back taxes.

A former friend and business partner of rising hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, Dash sold his share of their Roc-A-Fella empire to Island Def Jam in 2004. Since then, Dame has been making music with a slew of artists in his New York City studio and art gallery DD172. –nicholas robinson

  1. I think the lesson we could all learn not just from this story, but many in this same boat is pay IRS first before we enjoy the blessing that life brings our way and the second thing is when someone has that type of money they should pay for the house so when the money is gone you still have somewhere to live! That’s just my thinking
