It’s been quite a rough few months for NBA star Lamar Odom. After being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks last year, Odom recently revealed that he’s split from the Mavericks. But apparently, things are worse than they appeared. Reports claim that Odom is suffering from depression and that his wife, Khloe Kardashian, is growing increasingly concerned for her husband.
According to RadarOnline, Odom’s trade to the Mavericks knocked the wind out of his sails and since then he’s struggled to find his footing both on the court and in his personal life.
“Lamar hasn’t gotten over being traded from the Lakers, and he has been depressed and moody ever since the trade happened. Lamar felt that he was ripped away from his Laker family with no warning or notice. He couldn’t fathom the fact that the Lakers traded him after all of his years with the team,” a source close to the couple said. “Khloe has been extremely supportive of Lamar, but she is growing increasingly concerned for her husband because she has never seen him like this before.”
This has easily been Odom’s worst season on the court. After sailing through an amazing year with the Lakers last year, Odom’s recent season saw him averaging a measly 6.6 points-per-game and 4.2 rebounds-per-game in 50 games with the Mavericks, the league’s reigning champions.
Now that he’s left the Mavericks, Odom will be will be on the inactive list for the rest of the season, leaving Mark Cuban’s organization with the option to trade him if they so choose.
“Lamar is just lost right now, and Khloe is hoping once they move back to Los Angeles and he is back in familiar surroundings, he will get out of his funk. Lamar wants to keep playing basketball, but it might be time for him to retire, which has Khloe even more concerned,” said the insider.
Perhaps time away from the court will do Odom some good. Unfortunately, that may not be so easy considering the TV cameras constantly following him and his wife, on the reality show “Khloe & Lamar.”
