Dr. Dre often rapped about conflict with police during his days with N.W.A. But Dr. Dre‘s disagreement with a former Detroit police officer recently made its way to the Michigan Supreme Court.
Detroit City Councilman Gary Brown filed a lawsuit against Dr. Dre, Andre Young, for an incident that occurred during a concert at the Joe Louis Arena.
Shortly before the concert, Brown told Dr. Dre that the concert would be stopped if an explicit video was shown on the arena’s JumboTron. Footage of the conversation was taped and later appeared on the “Up in Smoke” DVD. Brown claimed that the DVD violated his privacy.
But the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that Brown had no right to privacy because he was working during the time as a public servant.
Dr. Dre is currently prepping for the release of his highly anticipated album, Detox. –a.r.
