Trelawny, Jamaica (W.I.) – The minute the last note of pomp and circumstance rang in the ears of 100 recent college graduates, each dashed to the airport to claim their seats on an Air Jamaica flight destined for Montego Bay, Jamaica. They would spend the next week on a paradise laden retreat at the 85-acre Grand Lido Braco Resort and Spa with philanthropist/comedian/actor “Professor” Eddie Griffin. “These graduates have defied the statistics in getting their degrees,” Griffin shares, “[by] performing noteworthy community services along the way.”

Our generation’s next leaders were encouraged, enlightened and exposed to a wealth of knowledge and testimonies from celebrities Doug E. Fresh, Dougie D., Ali Vegas, Dana Dane, Essence magazine’s editorial director and author Susan Taylor and public relations guru and author Terrie M. Williams at the first annual college graduation celebration, empowerment forum and career expo. Griffin made the event promising with his unsurpassed $150,000 donation. Griffin continues, “I had to reward them for their efforts and do what I could to prepare them for their role as future leaders.”
