Buckhead has long been considered the premier shopping destination in
Atlanta, with visitors flocking to Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza.
But for the shopping connoisseur who shuns malls and big box retailers
for the intimacy of chic boutiques, Castleberry Hill is becoming quite
the trendy diversion.

“It’s like the SoHo of the South,” says
Kesha McNair of the burgeoning west Atlanta neighborhood. “You walk
right across to the other side of Northside Drive and you’re like, ‘oh,
this is here?’ It’s kind of like a hidden treasure.”An L.A. native,
McNair’s first foray into fashion was at the age of 15, working at
Macy’s in the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. After majoring in fashion
design and merchandising at Clark Atlanta University, McNair decided to
fill an unserviced niche in Atlanta and opened Dymond Wayz Accessories
Heav’n.

“I wanted to provide a full line of accessories,” says
McNair. “I thought it was something new and creative, something that
Atlanta was missing. A lot of our products are very trendy, [and]
fashion forward. I want to stay kind of in the hip-hop [arena]. We
provide high-end accessories at moderate prices.”

McNair also
does image consulting and is developing her own line of
accessories.”I’m not just somebody selling stuff. I believe product
knowledge is definitely something that’s informative for my clients and
helps me be a better business owner. I don’t want people coming to me
in confidence, patronizing my business and then going out in the street
looking a hot mess.” – adam jones
