OnStar Marketing Manager, General Motors
OnStar
already offers a multiplicity of services to its customers: helping
with directions, unlocking car doors, calling emergency agencies . the
list goes on and on. Now, according to OnStar’s marketing manager,
Michelle Stoutemire, OnStar is adding insurance premium savings to its
impressive list of offerings. “What we’re working on is value added
benefits. Now we’re working with State Farm, Allstate, Geico and
Progressive, to bring value, so wherever you are, whatever insurance
you have, you can get the discount – [from] all providers,” says
Stoutemire.
Further, if you don’t drive lots of miles, OnStar is working to help
you save up to 35 percent on your insurance premiums. Through
diagnostic reports, consumers can e-mail their odometer readings to
their respective insurance agencies as proof of driving under the
prescribed miles.
“[By the] end of 2007, we will be in 40 states. It works really, really
well. If you’re looking to save on insurance, it’s just another
competitive advantage for GM,” Stoutemire boasts of the new efforts.
“[If] they say you [drove] low miles, we’ll give you 5 percent off. If
you only drive 5,000 miles a year, they can give you up to 20 percent
off. A lot of people don’t have a cutoff. No matter what you drive, you
end up getting a discount,” she adds. “Some of the insurance companies
like State Farm, aren’t looking at a mileage cutoff. We’re going to
have discounts; these are things that we’re working on to bring
additional value.” It’s good to know that GM is willing to put
customers in the driver’s seat. For more information, log onto
