Global Sales Director of Diversity, Wyndham Hotel Group

The
average consumer is often not cognizant of the real owners of the
hotels they stay in. This is important, says Henry Richards of the
Wyndham Hotel Group, for informed consumers may be more apt to
appropriate their funds towards patronizing hotels that support them
and worthwhile causes. This endeavor to educate the public served as
one of the primary reasons behind Richards and the Wyndham Hotel
Group’s presence at the 98th NAACP Convention in Detroit.

“We’re here, number one to support the organization and their efforts
in the community,” says Richards of Wyndham Hotel Group, which owns
Ramada, Days Inn, Howard-Johnson, Super 8 Hotels and Wingate, among
others. “And number two, to forge brand awareness in the community. To
let people know that we’re here, we’re inclusive, and that we support
the NAACP and the things they do around the nation. A lot of people
don’t know about the brands that we represent. That’s a big reason why
we’re here today.”

Wyndham’s portfolio is bulging with appreciable assets, boasting over
6500 hotels around the world. Richards devotes his working hours to
imparting Wyndham Hotel Group’s alliance with diverse consumer sects.
“I sell all these brands around the world, and my main market is the
diversity market, which we consider the African American market, the
Hispanic market, [and] the Asian market. All the ethnic communities.”
