Actress/Philanthropist
If there was an award for being a superwoman, Holly Robinson-Peete
would be among the recipients. The wife of former NFL quarterback
Rodney Peete and co-founder of the HollyRod Foundation, which focuses
on the well-being of children and those affected by Parkinson’s
disease, does it all. In between raising her four children and saving
the world, this superwoman somehow found time to celebrate motherhood
at the McDonald’s-sponsored Mocha Moms conference.
“I’m very proud that McDonald’s brought me in to chat with
everyone, to chat with the Mocha Moms about sharing what it’s like
trying to balance it all and do it all. As moms, we have to do it all
and, as African American moms, we really have to do it all. So, I look
forward to any opportunity just to have some time to myself and I’m
glad to be here,” said Robinson-Peete.
Mocha Moms is a 10-year-old organization that celebrates
African American mothers who are putting their children first. In line
with their mission, Robinson-Peete is a devoted advocate for instilling
strong values and morals in children. “We have to teach our children
early the importance of giving back to the community. I very firmly
believe that that’s the key to children understanding how their life
can be enriched by understanding the power of that,” added
Robinson-Peete. With her father’s bout with Parkinson’s disease being
the motivating factor for her endeavors into philanthropy, the HollyRod
Foundation doesn’t want anyone’s health to be compromised due to lack
of income.
“Everyone deserves [a good] quality of life and everybody
deserves to get up in the morning and be happy,” said Robinson-Peete. –
