President, Executive Marketing Group In our highly technological and fast-paced society, home-based businesses now account for 1 out of every 8 businesses. What was once considered a taboo form of luxury for stay-at-home moms to occupy their time while dad went off to earn the big bucks, is now a multimillion dollar industry. In fact, it’s the third largest income-producing career behind medicine and law.
For Sherie Muhammad, president of Executive Marketing Group, leaving a job in corporate America to become her own boss was an easy decision to make.
“What we do is … international marketing for wellness firms,” she says of the Executive Marketing Group. “Many of us have come from the corporate sector, having good jobs, and realized that we wanted great lives as opposed to just a good life.”
After five years, Muhammad is still working the job of her dreams. Following suit, her husband also left corporate America, and the duo now has more time to spend with their children — all while managing to earn a residual income of over $14,000 per month. While she enjoys her success now, Muhammad explains that building the business wasn’t easy.
“The challenge [is] literally sharing information with people and having them be open-minded,” she admits. “Now that the economy is turning, that’s no longer the case, and if feels like the world is wide open.” – janaya black
