Of the bleached-blonde class of ’99 pop starlets, (that yielded
Christina, Jessica, and Britney); Mandy Moore has had the least amount
of tabloid attention. That has worked to Ms. Moore’s favor, and her
latest album, Coverage, is a
mature set of acoustic pop and rock covers that she handles
exceptionally well. Her take on the likes of Carole King, Joan
Armatrading and Todd Rundgren works better than you might think,
especially on Joe Jackson’s “Breaking Us In Two.” –dusty culpepper
