Sony
DJ supergroup X-Ecutioners’ latest album, Revolutions,
contains mostly new material, but sprinkles in some of their best
moments of the past few years. A lively, entertaining set, Revolutions
includes some stellar guest spots, especially Ghostface on the über-hot
“Live From the PJs,” and “Daisy Lady” is a jittery highlight. Where the
album falters is when it falls into ill-advised bids for pop and rock
crossover status, as on the Rob Zombie interpolated “Let Me Rock.” But
the hits outweigh the misses on this set from a group of turntable
visionaries. -dusty culpepper
