tim maynor - paving the road to successCEO, Timotheus Entertainment

Behind every successful artist lies a great manager – the person who has the vision, fortitude and business know-how to strategically maneuver all aspects of an artist’s career with finesse. For national recording artists Dwele and Slum Village, Tim Maynor, entertainment manager and CEO of Timotheus Entertainment, is just such a man.

“The grind for a manager [is] the daily upkeep of an artist’s calendar, making sure an artist makes money, [and] making sure the awareness of an artist is out there,” he explains.

In today’s market where artists are a dime a dozen, Maynor understands the importance of having an attention grabber to stay in the game.

“You gotta have a good stage show so that the artist can sell records on the road,” Maynor asserts. “The distribution side of things has shrunk. The shelf life in retail is short, so you gotta have a good show. Like I say, [if] you have a good show, you’re going to sell records.”

Though Maynor’s job includes many arduous tasks and little recognition, he manages to find tremendous gratification in what he does.

“I’m just a caring [manager],” he admits. “I care about my artists. We make a living and I respect them. [I love] seeing my artists smile and making them happy. When they’re happy, I’m happy.” – janaya black
