For entrepreneur Paul Debnam, helping young African Americans become the business leaders of tomorrow is something he feels passionately about. As president of the Debnam Group, a consulting and public relations firm, and an active partner with Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr.’s Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, Debnam is fully supportive of empowering those who demonstrate promise.
“I’m grateful to be a part of a movement that supports young black men and black sisters trying to accomplish their goals in the financial realm. Rainbow/PUSH is one of those organizations that supports black wealth and black communities coming together for the betterment of their community. I think the most important factor is the information our people are being exposed to. Information about capitalism and capital and how it works – how to fix our everyday lives, how to invest, how to make money and how to save more than you make,” explains Debnam.
Throughout his career, the former collegiate athlete has focused on building a special bond with professional athletes to ensure that their money is being properly invested. “I truly believe in athletes understanding capital and how it works, and knowing that there are other ways to take their earnings and put it in places where they would be financially secure forever. It’s important for them to live the same lifestyle … when their playing days are over. That’s what it’s really all about, to take their monies and put it in the right place,” states Debnam. – – jason thompson
