There’s a good chance the average listener will not appreciate the mash-up musical genius that comes with Girl Talk. At the same time, the best thing about the album’s creator, Greg Gillis, is that he could probably care less about what you think and seems more intent on toying with your sense of sound. Spanning 55 minutes and using over 300 samples, which include everyone from Soulja Boy to The Cure, GT’s latest disc might be one the most ambitious albums of the year. –gavin philip godfrey
