Before I begin, I have to tell you that I’ve been a fan of 2K
sports games for years. Why, you might ask? No, it’s not because
of some sort of blind obsession. It’s because 2K sports actually
listens. Hanging out in game forums is a good way to determine how much
gaming companies appreciate you, and from my experience, 2K Sports
seems to listen a little more than the other guys. No gimmicky stuff,
just real improvements that make the game better.
That said, NBA 2K9
is an amazing basketball experience. Sure, the graphics are
outstanding, but so are a lot of other basketball games out there. What
sets NBA 2K9 apart from the pack is what’s running
under the hood — realistic player AI on both offense and defense,
as well as sweet signature animations that mimic player’s actual
styles. Longtime NBA 2K9 players will be able to jump right
in and start playing. The basic game mechanics are the same as previous
2K basketball games. However, tweaks and refinements to the AI are
immediately noticeable in defensive double teams and offensive players
coming off screens and setting picks. The key word here is
realism.
For gamers who want to go a little deeper, NBA 2K9
offers one of the deepest franchise modes around, The Association 2.0.
Here you can manage your own basketball dynasty, controlling everything
including scouting, player development and drafting. You can even boost
some aspects of your team during time-outs. Bottom line, if you want
the most bang for your hard-earned bucks, NBA 2K9 is the way to go. –dark abyss
