Representative, Global Career Company
In
today’s dismal economy, the job market has also taken a hit, due
to a large number of layoffs and corporate restructuring. At a time
when landing a stable job is becoming more and more difficult, it helps
to expand one’s search. That is where Njambi Ngunjiri and Global
Career Company (GCC) enter.
GCC is an
international recruitment agency that specializes in matching qualified
candidates with international employment opportunities in Africa via
its “Careers in Africa” initiative. As a GCC
representative, it is Ngunjiri’s job to introduce prospective
candidates to the company and screen them for upcoming opportunities.
Ngunjiri
says that many prospective applicants are shocked to learn about the
vast employment opportunities available in Africa. “Africa is
bucking the downward trend that most economies are going through and
that’s primarily because of the oil and gas infrastructure
investments that have been made across the continent,” she
explains. “Countries like Nigeria, Angola and South Africa have a
lot of recruitment needs and they’re looking to tap into the
international market as a source of candidates for their leadership and
talent,” reports Ngunjiri.
After
undergoing a prescreening process, prospective candidates and employers
are brought together at an invitation-only Recruitment Summit, where
both pre-scheduled and impromptu interviews take place. Ngunjiri feels
that it is important that job seekers look beyond their comfort zone
for employment opportunities. “It is important that people are
aware of the opportunities that are available on the African
continent,” she says. “With companies such as Coca-Cola
Sabco, Heineken and GE Oil & Gas hiring, the opportunities are
great.” –ivory m. jones
