CHICAGO —
In what has become arguably the Windy City’s premier urban
fashion event, the Remix the Runway 2008 show has claimed the title as
the biggest yet. This year’s event, which will be held tonight at
the DuSable Museum, has already sold out.
Presented
by Power 92’s Parrish Lewis and Luster Pink, Remix the Runway is
a fashion extravaganza featuring some of the city’s finest
up-and-coming models. Over 600 submissions were received from aspiring
runway mavens and hunks. In two days, 45,000 people cast their vote on
www.remixtherunway.com and chose their favorites to compete for the
grand prize.
Tonight’s
main event will be hosted by Akon and features performances by Ryan
Leslie, J Ivy and others. Each model will have the chance to strut
their stuff in the latest designs from local designers, as well as
Akon’s Konvict Clothing Line. The sold-out audience will judge
and choose five runner-ups in the male and female categories. The male
and female winners will be announced in three days on
www.remixtherunway.com.
