Atlanta’s
most celebrated artists, producers, corporate big wigs and tastemakers
came out suited and booted during Upfront Megatainment’s
007-themed black tie affair at Atlanta’s AJA Restaurant last
night. In celebration of the artist development-oriented label founded
by Atlanta native DeVyne Stephens, high-brow guests included the likes
of multi-platinum singer Akon, music mogul Jermaine Dupri and platinum
producer Jazze Pha.
“Giving back to our
friends is a great way to end the year,” said Interscope Records
A&R executive Shawn “Tubby” Holiday. “We are in
celebration the success of Devyne Stevens, seeing Obama win the
presidency and it’s good seeing everybody out and all dressed
up.”
Hosted by Konvict Muzik, Interscope
Records, Remy Martin and Rolls Royce Motor Cars, the party was themed
after the fictional James Bond 007 movie and book character. Many
partygoers even dressed in gaudy tuxedos and large bow ties reminiscent
of the 70s movie series.

“We’re
just happy to be here,” said Akon. “It’s always an
honor to have a great year and give back to the people supporting
us.”
Jazze Pha agreed. “Had I not
even been connected at the hip with the man that’s throwing this
situation, I would still be here,” he said. “This was a
classy event.”-carlton wade
