Tiffany R. Warren, the founder of the AdColor Awards, basked in the euphoric feeling generated by the historic victory of President-elect Barack Obama. She used that unforgettable day to compel and propel members of the AdColor Coalition, the creators of multicultural advertising awards gala that took place in a palatial Florida resort, onward and upward towards creating more history and ushering in true inclusiveness in the advertising industry.

““Twelve days ago,” a resplendent Warren said, addressing more than 500 advertising professionals, “A half-white, half-black [man] named Barack Hussein Obama became the 44th president-elect in the United States. And I remember last year thinking to myself, ‘Could this really happen? And if so, what a party we’re going to have.’ His win means so much to me that I cannot [share] it here in this speech. So suffice it to say, the sky now is truly the only limit that anyone should ever face in achieving their dreams. And many of our honorees have already done that.”

More than 20 minority advertising professionals were honored as ‘innovators,’ ‘change agents,’ ‘rising stars’ and ‘legends’ from an illustrious pool of more than 80 advertising agencies, marketing and media companies.

“Our legends broke the ice so that you could stand without falling. Our change agents broke ground so that you could build your careers. Our innovators changed the game so that you could play in it. And our rising stars benefited from the hard work of those who came before them,” she continues. “I ask all of you … to never forget to reach back as you continue to rise, because that is the way that we will all be able to fly.” – terry shropshire
