The
hype and hoopla of Super Bowl weekend got underway Thursday, January
29, with several events that served as an introduction of things to
come leading up to the NFL’s most important game. One celebrity-filled
affair was Dwight Freeny’s Billiard Tournament at Game Works in Ybor
City, Tampa’s Latin Quarter.
The star
defensive end of the Indianapolis Colts invited famous friends–Michael
Jordan, Charles Oakley, DJ Clue, Chris Spencer, Marcellus Wiley, and
teammate Raheem Brock–to battle on the pool table.
“I’m
here to support my teammate Dwight Freeny and partake in the
festivities,” Brock said. “This is my second time going to the Super
Bowl. My first time was in Miami when we won the Super Bowl in 2006. I
am here in Tampa to enjoy the camaraderie and have a little fun.”
Football
fans will get the chance to partake in golf tournaments, celebrity
basketball games, concerts, and an abundance of parties that will take
place before the big game on Sunday. –a.r.
