Looks like André 3000, aka André Benjamin doesn’t need the “Green Light” after all. The multiplatinum selling rapper was arrested for driving 109 miles per hour in his Porsche Carrera early Saturday in a suburb of Atlanta.
The singer is currently out on a $1,200 property bond pending an April 29 court date. Police say Benjamin told them he was going so fast because he missed an exit and had to turn around. He was reportedly going to a party.
While André 3000 certainly has the money to bail himself out of jail and deal with the financial consequences that accompany traffic violations, the average person doesn’t —especially during a recession. So although the OutKast leader is an innovator, this is one of those instances when you shouldn’t follow 3000’s speedy lead, unless your pockets are as deep as his. Keep your foot off the gas pedal and drive the speed limit.
In other André-related news, the talented rapper is currently working on a solo album, which is scheduled to drop later this year as well as another group album with OutKast.
