It’s hard to get a handle on where Ciara’s going musically with her third album, Fantasy Ride. She goes from uber-pop songs like “I Don’t Remember” to super dance songs on “Turntables” featuring Chris Brown to temptress on “Ciara to the Stage.” Instead of capitalizing on the likeable sound she’s already established, she loses points trying to channel the energy of her peers — namely Rihanna and Beyoncé. Although Fantasy … is chock-full of radio-friendly tracks (“High Price” featuring Ludacris), you have to wish C-C would get back to being herself.
