“Some friends were free-styling on the bus and they said, go ahead bust one,” the Atlanta-raised rapper remembers. “I did and I said something slick. I’ve been rapping ever since.”
Although he found his calling early, it doesn’t mean he didn’t go through some serious drama to get to where he is today. He’s had two deals, lost friends and in the process, learned a lot about himself and his music. So don’t think for a moment that his hit last summer, “What’s Up with the Cookie” with Juney Boonday was the end of the road for him. To the contrary, he’s just gearing up to show rap fans what he has in store.
“To some people, 10 years may be a lifetime, but 10 years is what I needed to learn how to make it in this game,” says Marc, whose yet-to-be-titled mixtape will be out on his White Horse Entertainment imprint this summer. “Even though I’m a hustler, I’ve been able to learn a lot on my way to where I am now.”
Remarking that through his music he paints pictures of daily events, Marc isn’t your average street rapper. His perspective is pretty accurate, and even though the rap game may sometimes be flaky, his know-how has helped him to navigate through the shadiness. His new single “Want It All,” makes it clear that he’s ready to claim what’s been 10 years in the making. “I don’t know how to be the best — I just know how to try hard,” says Marc.–jh
