Desiree Rogers’ appointment as the first African American White House social secretary is quite an achievement, but Rogers has a long and remarkable history of, well, achieving. Rogers, who earned her MBA from Harvard, was named president of Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas in Illinois and also served as president of social networking for Allstate Financial. Rogers’ accomplishments have made her a perennial fixture on several popular “Most Powerful Women In Business” lists over the years. The praise she continues to receive is a small reflection of the commitment to excellence that she has shown over the years. Now the capable Rogers is serving her country by helping to shape the president’s image and the events that will define his time in the White House.
