Givens thoroughly enjoys writing plays. “Writing is an outlet for me,” she says. “It’s like I travel in someone else’s world. In it I find answers to my own life.” The entertainment company was established in response to being recognized as a “rescuer.” Friends who encouraged Givens to write, realized her work could potentially touch the lives of others. They suggested she entitle her productions “Soul Savin Productions”.
Recognizing that her work has touched others, Givens wants to take her carefully crafted creations on the road and share them in colleges and prisons across the country. She also has her sights on turning several of her plays into independent films.
For those who feel that they too have something to share with the world, Givens offers this advice, “Everyone may not believe in you in the beginning. You have to believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself —then who will? Don’t do it for the accolades. Follow your heart’s desire.” –T binns09
