Affordable Vacations
The heat is rising and so are gas prices — but vacation costs don’t have to. Depending on the type of vacation you want to take, a get away verses big city destination, travel and accommodations can be fun, comfortable and affordable.
City Lights – If you want the allure of bright lights and throwing your cares to the wind — you’re in luck. Las Vegas is keeping rates down and pushing the Vegas family vacation deal just like they promised. Flights are cheap and rooms are reasonable so you’ll be able to put more spending money in your pocket for doubling down. The best thing about this city, besides the obvious, is that it doesn’t require big bucks for a great time — just walk down the infamous casino strip for all the entertainment, shopping and dining you desire.
Sight seeing – New York Although it is one of the priciest cities in the Western Hemisphere it is possible to visit one of the world’s most fabulous metropolises without mortgaging your home. Consider a stay in Brooklyn or Queens. These boroughs are both right on subway lines, so there’s no need to rent a car, and both offer plenty of rooms at far cheaper rates than what you’ll typically find in Manhattan. Plus, both Brooklyn and Queens have museums, historic sights and fabulous ethnic restaurants that make them visitor-worthy in their own right.
A night at both the Pan America Hotel and the Sofia Inn costs about 50 per cent less than a comparable Hotel in Manhattan.
With your savings you’ll be able to party at the THE 40/40 CLUB, an all-American sports bar and lounge owned by hip-hop mogul Jay-Z and partner Juan Perez. The 8,000 square feet of sports and entertainment space is lavishly decorated and caters to the African American traveler who appreciates the New York experience.
For a southern exposure there’s always Atlanta. This growing urban center is also the seat of African American culture — past and present. The sultry sounds of jazz can be heard in it’s proper setting during the Atlanta Jazz Festival, one of the largest jazz festivals in America or for something more contemporary, head over to Ludacris’ restaurant for music and great food— Straits is straight. – roz edward
