Brian Granville, owner of The Granville Group LLC, shares transition from politics to entertainment law

Entertainment attorney Brian Granville, founder of the Granville Group LLC, can credit his seamless evolution from being a political operative in Los Angeles to a real estate and entertainment law attorney in Atlanta to his business astuteness and his prolific networking. After several years in politics, Granville yearned for a new business quest. But with a nudge from Los Angeles political legend, Tom Bradley, the ambitious and charismatic Granville was steered toward destiny.

“I got a meeting with Mayor Tom Bradley [and] he encouraged me to pursue law school. When I went to law school I didn’t want to be a lawyer, per se, because I didn’t know what a lawyer really meant or the swagger that a lawyer may have. I knew I wanted to do something professional and being a lawyer was a natural progression from the political arena,” Granville admits.

After getting his Juris Doctor degree, Granville migrated to Atlanta where he practiced law and delved into the real estate arena. But his burgeoning side business of entertainment law began to mushroom so quickly, that he decided last year to open up the Granville Group LLC and immerse himself in the business fulltime. Granville lists several invaluable intangibles that have accelerated his success. “In addition to my charisma and my diplomatic skills, I bring a significant list of networks that range from some of the most successful entrepreneurs in Atlanta, outside of our community [and] some political leaders in Atlanta,” says Granville who boasts a clientele of entertainment figures and athletes that continues to swell like a bag of microwave popcorn. Granville believes that he could have grown even quicker if he was devoid of scruples, but he knows that adhering to strict principles will enable his Granville Group to reap a vast harvest in the years to come. In fact, it’s happening now.

“People will do a deal with you based upon the vibe that they have with you. … Generally I come off very authentic and very honest and I have integrity — that is a very crucial attribute that I try to maintain to separate myself [from the pack],” he says. “That integrity will also build … goodwill in the long run. That’s [what is] most important about being fair and having good karma.” – terry shropshire
