Heather Gee, VP for Development and Donor Services Assisting Nonprofit Organizations

Heather Gee

Every year, thousands of charities are formed to initiate change in the community. But for those charities to remain relevant, they need individuals who are equipped with fund raising skills. As vice president of development and donor services for the Philadelphia Foundation, Heather Gee plays a vital role in assisting nonprofit organizations in the Philadelphia area.

How does the Philadelphia Foundation help charities?
The Philadelphia Foundation is a nonprofit organization that manages charities that assist individuals in need. We also invest money in funds and give grants to nonprofits in the Philadelphia community.

Talk about the Color of Money conference.
We believe that nonprofits are the lifeblood of the community. It’s important that nonprofits are financially strong. Without money, nonprofits will disappear. The conference is designed to teach people to raise money for charity. There are a lot of people who have to raise money for their charity and we provide fund raising training. We want these conferences to continue to provide service to the community.

How did you get involved with the Philadelphia Foundation?
I’ve been doing fundraisers since graduating from college. I got involved with the Philadelphia [Foundation] because of its mission. It’s about making a difference in the community and [the] world. Fund raising has been an extraordinary career path for me. More charities pop up every year and they are in need of fundraisers. We want to identify fundraisers so they can serve their organization better.

The Color of Money Conference will take place on June 24. For more information, visit www.afpgpc.org.
