With her new mixtape P.M.S. (Pardon My Swagg), Diamond is seeking to establish herself as a solo artist worthy of her own shine. The former Crime Mob darling does best on songs were she strips herself down emotionally, like on the Lil Wayne remix, “Fuc Da World” and “Role Model” featuring Nicole Ray (which also showed up on her 2007 mixtape). Struggling to hold her own in a male dominated industry, she teams up with Cee-Lo on the spunky “Superbad” with club-worthy results. While Diamond’s writing clearly has room for improvement, this is still a solid offering from an emerging femcee with something to prove. –jacinta howard
