According to initial reports by Nashville police, McNair, 36, was found shot to death along with a 20-year-old woman in downtown Nashville. His untimely death stands as a major loss for the NFL and Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
McNair became just the second black quarterback to play in the Super Bowl when he led the Tennessee Titans to the big game in 1999. Before being drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1995, McNair broke several NCAA records while playing quarterback for Alcorn State University.
