Minister Farrakhan Speaks on Michael Jackson’s “Crucifixion”

Days before Michael Jackson passed away, Minister Louis Farrakhan received a call from an unnamed lawyer representing the King of Pop. The voice on the other end of the phone alerted Minister Farrakhan to his concern for Jackson as the entertainer was preparing for his grueling 50-show “This Is It” Tour.

“He said ‘Minister Farrakhan, please get in touch with Michael,’” Minister Farrakhan recounted. “’He’s in serious trouble.’”

Farrakhan, a close friend of Jackson’s who has at times served as the music legend’s spiritual advisor, simply asked the voice, “Why?”

“Michael agreed to do 10 concerts, now they’ve booked him for 50 concerts and we’re afraid he won’t be able to fulfill the obligation … he will be sued and this will be a way for them to take his legacy,” the voice said.

After thinking about it, Minister Farrakhan said he would need a few days in Africa to think about what to say and how to approach Jackson, but by that time it was already too late. “I arrived in Africa, we were sitting at the table having dinner and a text message came [that stated] Michael had a cardiac arrest,” he said. “I hit the table and said, ‘My brother is gone.’”

In his most recent address at Mosque Maryam in Chicago, Minister Farrakhan took the time to celebrate the life and chronicle what he called, “The Crucifixion of Michael Jackson.” From the much over-hyped tension with his father Joe Jackson to his child molestation allegations, here are some of the Minister’s most memorable points on the star’s life. gavin philip godfrey

Michael’s Relationship with Joe Jackson
“There’ something about Joe Jackson we have to understand. Most of us have children that we have no purpose for, so they grow up without a name — without a purpose — and we just hope that they’ll turn out alright. Joe Jackson had a purpose for his children.”

Michael Battling his Enemies
“What you don’t understand about the enemy — when they fear you the first thing they must do is destroy your reputation, then destroy your wealth, and then if you’re still alive … we can have him then. He’s no more, [he] has no more money, he’s a broken man. ‘You can have him back.’”

Michael as an Archangel
“Michael was an archangel of sound, song and dance. Michael’s sound touched people of every race, culture, ethnicity, persuasion, [and every] religious, political, [and] sexual orientation. Michael touched it all.”
