Def Jam
Ever since his debut album — 2001’s Ghetto Fabolous — Fabolous has struggled to establish his musical identity. Each and every release has been a mixture of drug-laden street tales and mushy odes to females. To no one’s surprise, his latest effort, Loso’s Way, is no different. When assuming the role of narrator Fab is at his best (e.g. “Pachanga” and the Marsha Ambrosious-assisted “Stay”), but when he abandons the focused storytelling for cookie-cutter pop hits (“Throw It In The Bag”), the results are nowhere near as favorable. –a. hugh leonard III
