Government name: Tyrese Gibson
Occupation: Singer,Actor
Hometown: Watts section of Los Angeles
First spotted: In a memorable 1997 Coca-Cola commercial, which launched his musical career.
His rising star: Having made a seamless transition to the big screen, Gibson has become a mainstay in blockbusters like Transformers and its upcoming sequel.
His current mission: To get people to pick up a copy of his action flick, Death Race, which was recently released on DVD.
His belief in the project: “I think that people need to go out and get the DVD because Death Race isn’t your average action movie. Most of those types of movies don’t really focus on the acting, but we really worked hard to develop our characters and give really great performances. The movie is definitely not what you would expect.”
His belief in family: “My family means everything to me. Now that I have a family to support, the decisions that I make are even that much more important.”
His views on fatherhood: “There’s nothing that I wouldn’t do for my daughter. But there are times when my work makes it hard for me to physically be there. That’s what happens when you are trying to be both a father and a provider. There are times when she is going to have to realize that Daddy has to go to work, and that he is doing all of this because he loves her and wants to provide a better life for her. But then, I have to make sure that when I’m not working, that I am being the best father that I can be.”
His inauguration plans: “Well I plan on being in D.C., and being a part of history. This is something that many of us thought would never happen, and I am just fortunate that I am in a position to be there, and be a part of it all.”
