Life
is good for actress Erica Ash. With standout performances on both “The
Big Gay Sketch Comedy Show,” and now, “Mad TV,” the talented beauty is
primed to accomplish even more in 2009. While reflecting on the
whirlwind journey that has taken her from the theater to small screen
acclaim, Ash has come to appreciate the joys of both mediums.
“Getting
an opportunity to do both (theater and television) has been a lot of
fun for me because they address two sides of my personality,” she
explains. “Theater gives me something that TV doesn’t, and vice versa.
In theater you have that instant gratification — you instantly know
exactly how you’re doing, because the audience will let you know. But
in TV, you just kind of have to do it, and you won’t know until you get
the ratings back, or until everything is taped and the director lets
you know.”
As
her career momentum continues to build, Ash humbly takes it all in
stride, understanding that her journey is all a part of a greater plan.
“To
me, I don’t think that it’s a specific quality about me that makes
people want to give me a shot,” she shares. “I believe it’s just
something that is supposed to happen. I’m open to whatever happens
along the way, and it’s actually changed for me. I was supposed to be a
doctor … that was the original plan. But my journey has evolved along
the way, and I’ve just stayed open to whatever God has for me.”
