Hip-hop icons Nelly and Jermaine Dupri teamed up with Atlanta radio station V-103 to raise money for Atlanta’s flood victims. The charity event titled “Atlanta Stand-Up: Jermaine Dupri & Nelly Charity Bowling Tournament” attracted celebrities like Big Boi, Frankie and Neffe (BET’s“Frankie and Neffe”), Lance Gross (“Tyler Perry’s House of Payne”), Kandi Burris (“Real Housewives of Atlanta”), rappers Rasheeda and Killer Mike.

“I came in town to celebrate J.D.’s birthday … St. Louis has it’s share of floods;  I know what it’s like. Atlanta is a second home for me. I thought it was right to show support,” Nelly shared.

Unusually heavy rainfall generated widespread flooding across Georgia, prompting a visit to the state by Vice President Joe Biden. The state insurance commissioner, John Oxendine, estimates $250 million in losses. Several Georgia creeks and rivers, swollen by continuous rainfall have overtopped their banks, a state of emergency was declared in 17 counties and at least nine people lost their lives to the flood waters.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to those affected by the flood. –yvette caslin
