Michael Vick should be basking in the light that has appeared at the end of the dark tunnel that he escaped this summer. After serving 18 months in jail on dogfighting charges, Vick showed contrition and was signed to a two-year deal worth $5.2 million with the Philadelphia Eagles. He received more good news after a court ruled that he could keep the $16 million he earned while playing with the Atlanta Falcons.
The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals supported the ruling presented by David Doty that concluded that Vick earned the $16 million in roster bonuses the Atlanta Falcons paid him before he was convicted. The ruling will likely cause NFL teams to place additional disciplinary clauses in their contracts.
The ruling essentially saves Vick from the massive debt that he acquired during his tenure with the Falcons.
