Hip-Hop Moms Want a Show

alt

The mothers of Lil Wayne, T-pain, and Ne-Yo are teaming up to start their own talk show to uplift women and single mothers called “Dinner Table Discussions.” If picked up the show will launch in 2010 and will be hosted by Jacida Carter (Lil Wayne’s mother), Aliyah Najm (T-Pains mother) and H. Loraine Smith (Ne-Yo’s mother). The three are in the process of making a pilot to present to major television networks. The mom’s will discuss a variety of topics on the talk show ranging from misconduct in the hip-hop world to domestic issues and current events.,

All three of these celebrity moms have experience with raising children in a difficult environment which makes them relatable — especially to single mothers.
The point of the show is to enhance viewers lives by educating them socially, economically, and culturally. They women will dialogue about topics of importance to the African American community and use their motherly instincts to voice their opinions and offer advice in the hopes of helping their respective communities. The concept is good, but unfortunately the show doesn’t sound exciting. The fundamentals for a successful show just aren’t there. It sounds boring and has a zero rating for drama, which is the main ingredient for a hit show. They’d have a better chance at if the moms had their superstar children make appearances. The show sounds like it’s going to be a lecture — it will just be coming from someone else’s mom. –christian anderson
