After listening to Angie Stone’s new album, Unexpected, it was evident that the songstress was trying out a new sound. Stone sounds best showcasing the sound fans love and expect from her on ballads such as “Why Is It” and “All Over Your Body.” It’s understandable that after having four albums with the same sound, she would want to switch it up a little. Unfortunately, none of the styles used on this CD can be deemed as “new,” since most have that early ’90s vibe. This album isn’t a good example of Stone’s talent at all. She did, on the other hand, do a wonderful job of naming the album because it was definitely “unexpected.”
