Big Bank Black and the Duck Tape Movement

Atlanta has its share of rappers who’ve gone from the streets to the the big time. Many talk about living the fast and dangerous life. Big Bank Black who prefers (Black) decided to take a different route. As CEO of Duct Tape Entertainment, Black’s music and lyrical content is geared towards having a good time, and making people feel good.
His hit single “Try It Out”  which features Kandi Burruss and is produced by hitmaker Zaytoven, is definitely a party starter. Black calls his success “beginners luck” making reference to the fact that while in the studio he was able to produce a hit record the first time around. The track is steadily receiving radio play from major stations, and the video was recently shot in Atlanta by director G. Visuals.

Black who explains he is on his “way to being a humanitarian” is happy with giving back to his community, one of which is the Edgewood community. For the last 10 years Black has been involved in assisting to residents living in the area. He recently participated in the first annual celebrity toy drive for Club Obsession, and intends to work with Greg Street with his “Toys in the Hood” charity event. Black insists that  “I’ve been taking care of my people for years. Everyone knows they can call me for anything.” He is fully aware of the importance of giving back to his community, as well as taking care of his family.

Although the album isn’t completed yet Black and fellow label mates like Alley Boy, have been in the studio producing hits. Songs such as “Stop Playin,”  “Groupie Love” and “One Night Stand” are getting heavy rotation and play. Black states “I’m not an artist, I run the company,” making it clear that although he is happy with his success, at the end of the day he is just as happy with being behind the scenes and being the boss.
