Still healing from the emotional wounds sustained during her abusive relationship with R&B heartthrob Chris Brown, Rihanna may have unwittingly entered into a relationship with another man with a history of intimidation and abuse.
Reports have surfaced recently that Los Angeles Dodgers baseball player Matt Kemp, whom Rihanna has been photographed with in intimate embraces, was given a court order to stay away from his previous girlfriend two years ago.
Felisha Terrell filed a restraining order against Kemp in 2008 for “constant verbal abuse and threats.” Terrell’s name may be familiar as the ex-fiance of NFL superstar Terrell Owens.
In the affidavit, according to Star Magazine and the Birmingham Times, Terrell claimed that “He is violent and I am afraid. He repeatedly made me scared and gets in my face,” said Terrell. “He brings his friends driving up and down the street to try and intimidate me. I am very fearful. He has other people calling me and stalking me.”
She also claimed that Kemp was “kicked out of a club for fighting with a woman — I am afraid his behavior will turn towards me since we are no longer dating.”
Of course, this could be also a case of a disgruntled and scorned ex-lover since no evidence has been produced that confirms Kemp improperly touched any woman.
Rihanna has asserted that she and Kemp are simply friends. They have been seen vacationing together — engaging in romantic activities — and were spotted at a Los Angeles Lakers game in recent weeks. It remains to be seen what will transpire with the woman who has escaped the clutches of one convicted abuser only to fall into the embrace of an accused one.
