‘Playgirl’ Attempts to Exploit Mike Vick: QB Offered $1 Mil to Pose Nude

In a move that reeks of poor taste and opportunism, Playgirl magazine has offered Michael Vick $1 million to pose in the nude. The only catch is the money won’t actually go to the resurrected QB, it would be sent directly to PETA as a “goodwill” donation. There are many things wrong with this not-at-all golden opportunity, but here are a few reasons it comes off as being of extremely poor taste:

1. If your reputation is basically rubbish due to morally questionable choices, it wouldn’t at all be advisable to further tarnish it by participating in what many would call smut. It would be the final nail in his coffin.

2. If PETA is supposed to be an organization that promotes making the “right choices” as it relates to animals, why, again, would it ever consider reaping the benefits of pornography — unless you count their near-nude anti-fur campaigns as being in the same vein.

3. Playgirl”s attempt to capitalize on the damaged public image of a fallen star, right in the midst of his Good Samaritan approach to rebuilding, is just plain ill-advised.

There are many other ways for Michael Vick to earn money if he should so desire to donate a large sum to PETA. In addition, it should be his choice as to what to do with the funds if he were to pimp himself out and pose for Playgirl. The idea that Michael Vick owes everything he will ever do going forward to PETA is borderline insane; he’s paid his debt, now let him move forward.
