National Enquirer: Tiger Rehabbed for Drugs, Not Sex; PETA Tags On with Spay and Neuter Ad (See Ad); Gatorade Says Goodbye

Before you go cutting your eyes after seeing “National Enquirer” in the headline, remember, they are up for a Pulitzer for breaking the John Edwards infidelity story.

The rag mag is now saying Tiger Woods isn’t seeking treatment for sex addiction at all, it’s really prescription drugs. The two drugs he’s reportedly hooked on are Ambien and painkillers, which they’re saying he’s blaming for his wayward behavior.

Fanhouse reports, though, what he’s selling, his wife Elin Nordegren isn’t buying — and neither is Gatorade.  Elin reportedly wants a divorce, and Gatorade said it’s permanently severing its relationship with the golfer, the AP reports.

Woods is said to be in seclusion in Arizona, while his lawyers are dealing with the opportunistic animal rights group, PETA.  The attention seeking company has developed a spay and neuter ad ad using him as an example of why “too much sex can be a bad thing.” His team filed a cease and desist order, which has reportedly caused the organization to cancel plans to display the ad.

The NY Post reports that PETA released the following statement:

“We were contacted by Tiger’s lawyers at IMG who kindly, but firmly, told us we were not authorized to use his image on the billboard, and would we desist. We agreed and have now turned the focus of our campaign to Mark Sanford.”

It’s murky waters for Woods, but he’s apparently in good company while he sorts his way through his mess; he’s received encouraging phone calls from both President Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, according to Golf Digest. –gerald radford
