Lil Wayne will be able to enjoy life as a free man a little while longer. For the second time this year, the multiplatinum-selling rapper dodged sentencing after a fire broke out in the basement of the Manhattan Criminal Court building in New York. The building was evacuated and all court hearings were cancelled.
Lil Wayne was to be sentenced to one year in prison after a .40-caliber semiautomatic gun was discovered on his tour bus in 2007.
Although Weezy was originally scheduled to begin his prison sentence in February, he was able to postpone his sentencing to complete much-needed dental work. Lil Wayne underwent eight root canals and continued to work on music during his downtime.
A new sentencing date has yet to be confirmed. –amir shaw
