In an effort to care for his sick daughter, Allen Iverson annouced that he would be leaving the NBA for the rest of the season – only to receive news shortly thereafter that his wife is divorcing him.
After 8 ½ years of marriage, Tawanna Iverson has filed for divorce from her NBA All-Star husband. The paperwork was done in a Fulton County Superior Court Tuesday, March 2, which labeled the marriage as “irretrievably broken.”
This wouldn’t be the first time the Iverson’s have been in the headlines, if we can remember back in 2002 Iverson was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife, during which he kicked her out of their home. In fact, Iverson has become quite familiar with law enforcement over the past decade, with one incident after another…yet the couple managed to stay together.
I must say that it is quite unfortunate for the Iverson’s to be heading to divorce court at such a critical time in their family. Instead of divorce they should be more focused on staying strong and helping the ill child get well. ~Christian Johnson
