A few weeks ago, Jay-Z attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the New Jersey Nets future home in Brooklyn, N.Y. By becoming a co-owner of the Nets, Jay-Z proved that he can play in the big leagues when it comes to the business of sports.
After taking on the NBA, Jay-Z could be investing in a soccer franchise in North London known as the Arsenal. Jay-Z began to keep a close eye on the team after becoming a fan of ex-player Thierry Henry.
“When Thierry Henry was at the club I saw him play and I just thought he was an amazing player,” Jay-Z said in a recent statement. “Ever since then I have been a big fan of the club. I think he had a real long term-effect on the team.”
When queried about potentially becoming an owner of the team, Jay-Z said, “I don’t know a lot about the business of soccer, but in the future if the right opportunity presented itself, then who knows? I am a businessman, and I will always look at an opportunity, and if it feels right, great.” –a.r.
